UMass Amherst Magazine
A major university magazine, re‑conceived
“We couldn’t be more thrilled with the new bold, vibrant, thought-provoking UMass magazine,” reported our client, the editor of UMass Amherst Magazine. We collaborated closely with the Associate Vice Chancellor for University Relations, the editorial staff, in-house design team, and writers to rethink the content mix: we re-thought the classic order of the content, re-structured departments and created new ones, put features front and center, and built in visual stopping points or ‘breathers’—every change designed to improve the reader experience and create an irresistable “keep turning pages” rhythm from cover to cover.
We also designed the online edition of the magazine, collaborating with the in-house development team to ensure an easily maintained site for future issues.
