E Block

Western Penitentiary’s E Block is a group of cells reserved for first-time offenders and parole violators. Prisoners spend three days to two weeks there until the system can classify and move them to other cellblocks or institutions. Photographer Mark Perrott spent a year recording and transcribing the words and drawings scrawled on the walls of E Block. This book contains his beautiful but unsettling images.
