The quest to reinvigorate the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra’s identity carried an unexpected mandate: the new design shouldn’t feel so orchestral. WSO leadership understood that dated perceptions — formal, elite, non-inclusive — discouraged audiences unfamiliar with classical music. The new identity’s letterforms balance brawny industry with graceful musicality. The bright, contemporary logo invites a rethink of perceptions and alerts audiences to expect fresh energy and verve.
The new brand tagline, “Your Community in Concert,” reminds audiences that WSO is an integral part of the Wheeling community, a source of community pride, unity, and shared joy for almost 100 years.
